Same-day delivery: scope, preparation and pricing
CentFix
Updated regularly · Canada-wide
Same-day delivery falls under delivery services. Delivery services move individual items or small loads from a seller or pickup point to a destination. Curbside delivery, in-room placement and assembly are different scopes.
Confirm pickup dimensions, stairs, parking and the exact drop-off point. Ask whether packaging removal, assembly or installation is included.
What same-day delivery involves
Same-day delivery needs a scope that matches the actual items and both locations. Confirm who provides packing materials, who handles lifting and where the work ends at the destination.

Getting ready for same-day delivery
Confirm pickup dimensions, stairs, parking and the exact drop-off point. Ask whether packaging removal, assembly or installation is included.
- List large, fragile or unusually heavy items
- Check access, parking and building rules
- Agree on the date and any delivery window
- Keep essential documents and valuables with you
What affects the price of same-day delivery
The amount of work is the starting point. For same-day delivery, a longer carry, tight stairs, extra packing or a second trip can change the time and materials needed.
- Volume and weight of items
- Travel distance and time
- Stairs, elevators and parking access
- Crew size, equipment and protective materials
- Storage or extra stops, if needed
Choosing a mover and confirming the scope
Ask for a written estimate based on your inventory. Check which tasks are included, when the clock starts and stops, what coverage applies and how unexpected work is approved.
- Is this binding, non-binding, or hourly with a minimum?
- When does the clock start and stop?
- What coverage do my belongings have if something is damaged?
- Are there charges for stairs, long carries or heavy items?
- Do you use your own crew, or subcontract?
- For long moves, is delivery a fixed date or a window?
